Realms' Councils across the Empire have convened in emergency, irregular sessions since the call-to-arms issued two days ago to the Social Liberal Union's member states by Amanda Tamia, People's Commissar of the North American Republics. An initial series of votes has dispatched representatives to the Provincial Councils suited to the newest deliberations, who have themselves raised a collaborative agreement which met the necessary quorum to be taken up by the House of Servitors yesterday morning. It marks the first time in well over a century that the Empire has had to contemplate with any seriousness the issue of military use abroad.
The usually speedy passage of a resolution coordinating the activities of the provinces has yet to materialize since yesterday morning. Members of the Ascended, forecasted merely to affirm a drumbeat for solidarity with the Union, have instead found their respective Realms' Councils locked in furious rounds of debate over whether the Empire should provide support for the violent overthrow of a distant nation. Two members of the Ascended have already been recalled by their respective provincial councils for failing to align with regional opinions, which have broadly divided into three camps: opposition to Toonelan participation in any actions which intend to displace the Rossian government by force of arms, limited support for Imperial assets to be used in the effort to break up the Rossian blockade alone, and full support for the Union's majority response, up to and including an invasion of Rossia itself. Citizens and residents have noted that while regional variations of the latter two of these proposals have a plurality support among the Ascended, it is not nearly enough to pass a 2/3rds majority without further compromise.
No nation-wide action can take place until the Ascended either accede or deny the requests to activate Imperial Command positions.
