(New Chicago, North American Republics) One week after finalizing results from the July 12th elections, the Workers' National Council drafted and passed the Agricultural Expansion Act of 2021. Set to go into effect immediately, the Agricultural Expansion Act of 2021 will allow the following districts to expand farming operations, in several cases by more than 150,000 acres:
  • District 21
  • District 33
  • District 96
  • District 97
  • District 101
  • District 153
  • District 159

While results are not expected to be seen for some time, the cultivation of beans, tomatoes, pumpkins, squash, and corn among other crops in these new areas, even with inadequate yields, will aid in improving food rations.

After signing the legislation, People's Commissar Tamia called it "the most important legislation this council has passed in a while," stating "while we continue the fight in Rossia, we need to start fighting the war against hunger here at home. Once trade resumes with Kanoria and other countries in the Asawagi Ocean, we will be able to lift the rationing."

Though expected to comment, the People’s Environmental Movement (PEM), based out of Luta Valley, has yet put out a statement. Their advocacy and organization in 2013 was instrumental in the passage of the Local Arbor Conservation Act in 2014, protecting the forests of Luta Valley from expanded forestry. A similar bill was submitted by PEM activists in the Workers' National Council and passed in 2016. It expanded on the initial protections of the Local Arbor Conservation Act by also included farmland limitations which have now been revised.
